Funny about the rise in popularity of cooking shows. I saw a Michael Pollan talk online a few months ago. He mused about how many people that watch half-hour cooking shows complain that they don't have the time to cook!

Now , you know I LOVE to cook, backed off of baking! Still love to cook, almost every night. I make pasta and the bread in the Fall,.Soups and stews are my favorite. Try making gnocchi Johnny, I'm sure you have some potatoes working for you in your garden! Those are the best homemade! And yes, new recipes, I get bored with the old standards and try to take it up a notch, and keep it healthy. My new goal is keeping it simple. The keep it simple stupid rule works well. Simple, fresh, not over cooked and perfect! Easy to do in the Summer! I'm thinking about grilling Pizza

I have indeed made fresh gnocchi. Nothing like it! It freezes pretty good too.

I'm making the raviolis now because we have a bunch of egg laying chickens and they are in full production mode. Once it gets dark early, around November, they shut it down.

So, I need to take advantage while I can. We keep the neighbors flush with eggs of course, so we bake and make pasta.

This year I planted 20 lbs of seed potatoes, so hopefully we'll have about 100 lbs of crop to store and make those nice gnocchis!

Did I tell you the story about how I purchased the "winter, or cold storage share," from Roxbury Farm? And forgot about for quite awhile! Talk about stinky!
I have fond memories about making gnocchi and a huge flour fight! Very dear to my heart, actually. Sounds like you have a pretty great thing going in there! A tad bit jealous!

Johnny, sounds like you have a fabulous garden! So here is a great dressing for some of the greens that I am sure you have growing there!

Our favorite salad dressing. I got this recipe at a "Farm to Table" class we took at Stone Barns.

Lemon Shallot Salad Dressing

1 T dijon mustard
Juice of 1 lemon
1 t lemon rind
Salt & pepper
1/4 c olive oil
1 T minced shallot
1 t minced parsley

Combine mustard, juice & rind in a bowl. Season with salt & pepper.
Add olive oil in a slow steady stream while whisking to combine.
Add minced shallots & parsley.

I've also sub garlic for the shallots. Simple, easy and DELISH!
