............
Half of French adults (50%), just over two in five Italians (45%), Spaniards (44%) and Germans (41%), and just under two in five Americans (37%) and one-quarter of Britons (25%) all would prefer spending cuts to paying higher taxes.
One other suggestion is that governments should make the rich contribute more than the less well off by paying more in taxes. Very strong majorities in Italy (87%), Germany (87%), France (85%), Spain (82%), Great Britain (78%) and the United States (71%) all agree with this idea.

I am always amazed at the responses to these economic surveys and in particular Voting Results on local School Budgets annually.
Politicians [any Politician, any Party with few exceptions] ever take the stance of "budget cutting", especially in New York. Take any level of Guber'ment here in New York Town, City, County, or State. And name three politicians [that are not running for re-election .... em, em Suzi] that propose "zero" increases in budgets or reduced spending.
The "only" politician that I can think of in the Tri-State are is Chris Christie. Who has taken on the special interests and so far has beaten them down hands down.
Local School Districts are now costing more to operate than what it took to run a entire County, only a few short years ago. And every year the School Boards use the same tired threats of "Student Budget Cuts" if the Budget isn't approved.
My School Board arrogantly a few years ago place the "exact same" budget up for a re-vote without ever changing a word in it, after it was voted down the first time. The Schools are the "only" budgets the "Voters" have a direct influence in controlling.
These entrenched politicians need to be thrown out of office on their ears. For the most part I believe it's going to happen this November.
Except of course here in New York. Which is "loading" with dopey librulz. No hope here.
