Hospira Supports Disaster Relief Efforts in Haiti With Products and Cash GrantsSpecialty pharmaceutical and medication delivery company Hospira, and its philanthropic arm, the Hospira Foundation, have made initial donations of approximately $1.75 million in medical products and cash grants to support humanitarian relief efforts in Haiti. More than 750,000 units of Hospira products, valued at more than $1.5 million, are either in Haiti or en route to the country and include antibiotics, intravenous (I.V.) solutions, analgesics and anesthetics, all of which are in high demand and are integral to serving the needs of disaster victims. AAdvantage Members Donate More Than $835,000 to American Red CrossThanks to the efforts of more than 7,800 American Airlines' AAdvantage members, more than $835,000 has been donated to the American Red Cross for Haiti relief since Jan. 14. NFLPA, MLBPA, NHLPA & NBPA Join Clinton Bush Haiti Fund to Lead 'One Team 4 Haiti' CampaignThe NFL Players Association, National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) and Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) today announced the creation of the "One Team 4 Haiti" campaign to support the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund's focus on the country's earthquake relief and recovery efforts. The campaign will launch with a text message fundraising effort supporting the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. In the U.S., supporters can text the word "TEAM" to 20222 to donate $10. Canadian supporters can text the word "TEAM" to 20222 (starting on 1/23/10) to donate $5. Local Maryland Communities Gather Donations for the Haiti Relief Cause Announces the Embassy of HaitiTwo Maryland mayors met with Mrs. Lola Poisson-Joseph, wife of Haitian Ambassador to the United States Raymond Joseph this afternoon to donate goods collected in local donation drives, the Embassy of Haiti announced today. Mrs. Poisson-Joseph was joined on the front steps of the Embassy of Haiti by Mayor Xzavier Montgomery-Wright of the City of Brentwood, Maryland and Mayor Diane Fennel of Colmar Manor to accept the donations for the Haiti relief efforts. Mayor Petrella Robinson of North Brentwood, Maryland could not attend but the community also contributed to the donation drive. Sutter Health Sends Medical Relief Team and Vital Supplies to HaitiA 15-member surgical care team from the Sutter Health network deployed Thursday from San Francisco International Airport to provide critical medical care to earthquake victims in Haiti. The team included general and orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, pulmonary acute care specialists and operating room nurses from Sutter Health-affiliated Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, California Pacific Medical Center and Mills-Peninsula Health Services. Entrepreneur Diana Jenkins Donates $1 Million and Forms Haitian Relief Organization With Sean PennLos Angeles entrepreneur Diana Jenkins today announced that she has donated $1 million and partnered with actor and director Sean Penn to establish the Jenkins-Penn Haitian Relief Organization to deliver medical supplies and transport doctors to people whose lives were devastated by the January 12 earthquake. Older Americans Team With Grand Circle Foundation To Raise $517K for Red Cross Provision of Food & Water in HaitiAlan Lewis, Chairman of Grand Circle Corporation, which owns Grand Circle Travel and Overseas Adventure Travel, today reported that $517,719 has been donated by their charitable arm, Grand Circle Foundation, and by more than 4,000 travelers (4,029) in support of Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti. The funds will be used to provide water and food to earthquake survivors. In a one week period, Grand Circle travelers, mostly retired Americans in their late 60s, 70s, and 80s, donated $367,719, including $346,267 donated by 3,536 travelers during a 96-hour period that began last Thursday, January 14. |
